PACIFIC DAWN

The latest in a series of refits for the P&O Australia fleet, Pacific Dawn was docked in Sydney in late November. The primary focus of dry-dock was the upgrading of the Main Pool and the Waterfront Restaurant.

The intention for the Main Pool was to make it more resort-like and less “industrial” ship style. To achieve this we installed new slatted timber-look screens to break up the space and create more intimate areas for seating and relaxing. More lounge style seating was introduced along with some feature hammocks and bright coloured upholsteries.

New feature waterfall and neck massagers added to the pools and these were also re-tiled and painted.

The existing bar and back bar was re-clad with new tiling, new bottle displays and lighting. The fast food Grill outlet was also re-clad and re-worked to provide a brighter, more High Street style outlet.

The general lighting scheme was upgraded with more colour changing LED lights introduced to make the whole exterior come alive and create mood settings at night for pool side parties.

For the Waterfront Restaurant the aim was to bring this in line with restaurants on Pacific Jewel and Pacific Pearl. This was achieved by installing new carpet, featuring a handmade rug at the entrance. More wine display cabinets were introduced as well as new waiter stations, planters and balustrades to help create more intimate dining areas. High communal dining tables were also introduced for those passengers looking for a quicker meal.

Other areas SMC where involved with included: public deck walkways and lift lobbies, installation of a Racing Car Simulator Room, new Photographic Studio and the uplifting of existing crew dining areas the best essay uk
