In Spring 2016, Viking Cruises took delivery of their second ocean cruise ship, Viking Sea. Christened on London’s Thames River, Greenwich, Viking Sea joins the fleet as the second ship to the award winning Viking Star (#1 in it’s category in Berlitz Cruising and Cruise ships 2016).
As per Viking Star, the ship boasts 465 cabins accommodating 930 passengers. All cabin grades carry the essence of Scandinavian design found throughout the vessel – beautiful and functional, quiet and filled with light. Each cabin comes with a balcony also, allowing the passenger to enjoy a new vista every morning in a new destination.
Another area that echoes Viking’s intent to create amazing hospitality design is the Wintergarden situation on Deck 07. This area plays host daily to afternoon tea whilst passengers sit beneath an extravagant blonde timber latticework. Light fills the space, with full height glazing to the ships side but also above a retractable magrodome structure that covers both the Wintergarden and the neighboring Lanai and Main Pool areas.
Taking delivery from Fincantieri’s Ancona shipyard, SMC will continue to work with Viking and associated partners on the two future vessels currently on order, Viking Sky and Viking Sun due in 2017.
