Delivered January 2017, Viking Cruises added Viking Sky to it’s expanding fleet of ‘small ship ocean cruise’ vessels. Christened in Tromso, Norway under the Aurora Borealis, Viking Sky echoes her sister’s Scandinavian interior design influence and authentic use of natural materials such as black slate, teak and cast iron throughout the ships design.
Exploration is a common trait of Nordic heritage, and this is most evident with the Explorers’ Lounge on Deck 07. Surrounded by glazing, this double height space celebrates the passion for travel that is ‘The Viking Difference’, allowing the guest to indulge themselves in historical artifacts, artwork and a Nordic Smorgasbord from the deli at Mamsen’s whilst relaxing in front of one of the fireplaces found onboard.
The Viking Living Room on Deck 01 is another example of Viking’s desire to allow the guests to explore the world in comfort, with a diverse range of furniture sitting within an enriching library experience supported by a fine example of Viking craftsmanship, the Viking Bar. This area flows vertically into the Atrium above, with panoramic glass lifts allowing no vantage point to be left undiscovered.
As Viking Cruises enter their 20thyear within the cruising industry, SMC look forward to delivering the fourth ship currently on order at Fincantieri, Viking Sun, due late 2017.
