Oceania Sonata introduces a new era for Oceania Cruises, setting the design direction for a five-ship class extending through to 2037. Inspired by refined residential living, the ship combines timeless craftsmanship, contemporary elegance and carefully considered details to create a warm, sophisticated experience that defines the future of luxury cruising.

SMC Design was entrusted with shaping many of the ship’s signature guest spaces, including the Atrium, Martini Bar, Mixology Bar, Retail, The Library, Lift Lobbies and guest facilities. Together, these destinations create a seamless journey of discovery, where elegant architecture, intuitive planning and residential comfort come together to deliver an effortlessly luxurious guest experience.

Our Insight

Oceania Sonata represents the next evolution of Oceania Cruises' design philosophy, an effortless blend of contemporary luxury, timeless elegance and exceptional craftsmanship. Every environment has been carefully curated to feel refined yet welcoming, drawing inspiration from the world's finest boutique hotels and private residences. Through thoughtful planning, premium materials and an unwavering attention to detail, each space encourages guests to slow down, explore and experience the ship at their own pace, creating a journey defined by comfort, sophistication and discovery.

Martini Bar and Mixology Bar

Designed as sophisticated social destinations, the Martini Bar and Mixology Bar celebrate the theatre of fine cocktails within beautifully crafted interiors. Rich timbers, luxurious stone, warm metallic detailing and atmospheric lighting create an intimate setting that evolves seamlessly from day to night. Feature displays showcase the artistry behind premium spirits, while the elegant architecture encourages conversation, social interaction and memorable moments, delivering a destination that feels both vibrant and unmistakably refined.

The Atrium

The Atrium forms the architectural heart of Oceania Sonata, connecting multiple decks through an open, light-filled volume that immediately establishes a sense of arrival. A striking rotating sculptural centerpiece provides a dramatic focal point, surrounded by a curved elegant staircases, luxury retail and comfortable lounge seating. Soft curves, layered lighting and refined materials create an environment that feels calm, spacious and effortlessly luxurious, encouraging guests to gather, explore and naturally move throughout the ship.

The Ambassador

The Ambassador Club is a dedicated destination for Oceania Cruises' most loyal guests, designed to strengthen relationships beyond the voyage while inspiring future travel. Combining a refined lounge environment with discreet sales consultation, the space offers members exclusive access to personalised cruise planning, loyalty rewards, destination previews and member-only offers.

Comfortable residential seating, private consultation areas and integrated digital displays create an inviting atmosphere where guests can relax, explore upcoming itineraries and receive tailored advice from onboard specialists. More than a sales venue, The Ambassador Club is an extension of the Oceania experience, rewarding loyalty, fostering meaningful connections and encouraging guests to confidently plan their next luxury journey at sea.

Retail

The retail experience has been designed as a contemporary luxury promenade where premium brands are presented within a spacious, boutique-inspired environment. Curved architectural forms, elegant display fixtures and carefully integrated lighting allow each collection to be showcased with clarity and sophistication. Wide circulation routes encourage guests to browse naturally, transforming shopping into a relaxed and immersive experience that complements the overall luxury journey on board.

The Oceania Quattro Library

The Library provides a peaceful sanctuary dedicated to relaxation, reading and quiet reflection. Taking inspiration from landbased residential libraries, the design combines warm timber tones, softly illuminated bookcases and plush seating to create a refined and relaxing environment. Carefully considered lighting, acoustic comfort and intimate seating areas encourage guests to unwind with a book, enjoy thoughtful conversation or simply take a moment away from the activity of the surrounding public spaces.

Barista and Gelateria

Barista and Gelateria create a welcoming all-day destination where artisanal coffee, handcrafted gelato and freshly prepared treats are enjoyed against panoramic ocean views. The interiors combine soft coastal colours, natural materials and relaxed seating arrangements to establish a bright, contemporary atmosphere that effortlessly transitions between indoor and outdoor living. Whether beginning the morning with coffee or enjoying an afternoon indulgence, the venue offers a relaxed social setting that celebrates Oceania's renowned culinary experience.

Public places

Often overlooked, the lift lobbies and guest facilities have been elevated into beautifully designed spaces that reinforce the premium guest experience. Sculptural architectural detailing, refined stone finishes, integrated lighting and elegant feature walls create memorable transition points throughout the ship. Every arrival and circulation space has been designed to feel cohesive with the wider interior language, ensuring that even the most functional areas contribute to the overall sense of luxury and craftsmanship.

Oceania Sonata establishes a new benchmark for contemporary luxury cruising by seamlessly combining timeless design, exceptional comfort and intuitive guest experiences.
